Demi Lovato Claims Rehab Prepared Her For COVID-19 Self-Isolation – ‘This Is Luxurious’

While people all over the country struggle with cabin fever after more than a month of social distancing amid the COVID-19 lockdown, it hasn’t been much of a challenge for Demi Lovato. The 27-year-old singer recently explained how going to rehab and the fact that she is a “homebody” has made the lockdown not just tolerable, but ideal.

Lovato appeared on the I Weigh with Jameela Jamil podcast, and she explained why staying at home over the past few weeks has been a positive experience.

“What’s funny is, one, I’m a homebody because I don’t love fame. I love being able to reach a lot of people with my music and help them. And I love being able to use my platform for the greater good,” Lovato said. “But when it comes to paparazzi or getting recognized, things like that, that’s just not a part that I really enjoy, so I stay home anyways. I’m a homebody.”

Lovato also explained how her experiences in rehab – the most recent being in 2018 after a drug overdose – were a practice run for the current COVID-19 shelter in place orders. She said that she is used to self-isolation, and she has joked with friends whom she met during treatment that sheltering-in-place “feels like rehab.”

“You’re on lock down at a facility, which most of the time was like a house-looking place or they’ve got beds, except in rehab you don’t get TV or your phone, so this is luxurious,” explained Lovato.

She added that when you are in rehab, you don’t get to go to the store whenever you want or Postmate whatever you want. During the coronavirus lockdown, Lovato is glad that she has done this a few times already.

Another perk for Lovado is that the break has allowed her to focus on her personal life because she isn’t making music. The Sorry Not Sorry singer explained that she doesn’t do well working from home. She says that when she is home, she wants to relax and spend time with whoever she is with, or her dogs.

Demi Lovato says that when it comes to working, she does better in the studio or on a set. Instead of creating during quarantine, Lovato says that she has been journaling, meditating, and using her phone to remotely attend church services and have guided prayers.

As for the hashtag #DemiIsOverParty that has been trending on Twitter in recent weeks because of a supposed fallout between her and Selena Gomez, Lovato says that she has already been canceled too many times to count and it doesn’t affect her anymore.
