Demi Lovato Doesn’t Believe In Cancel Culture After Her Alleged Account Trashing Selena Gomez Was Exposed
Demi Lovato, who has become an expert in being canceled, recently revealed that she doesn’t believe in it. The singer has a solid reason behind why she thinks social media coming together to try to end a person’s career is nonsense.
#demilovatoisoverparty trending twice recently. The first was when she revealed that she was no longer friends with Selena Gomez in an interview. The second was when her alleged fake Instagram where she trash-talked her former friend was found and went viral.
Additionally, the Disney Channel alum was slammed so harshly when she laughed at a meme about 21 Savage being revealed as a British citizen that she was forced to delete her Twitter after apologizing for the joke.
In an interview with Jameela Jamil, she gave her opinion on cancel culture.
Demi: “There is so much hate in this world, we have to rise above and never say sorry for who you are”

‘I’ve been canceled so many times that I can’t even count. The hashtag, #DemiIsOverParty, that whole thing it’s just, like, it doesn’t even affect me anymore. So one, it’s just not real. I don’t think that anybody was ever officially canceled. Otherwise certain people wouldn’t have Grammys today, certain people wouldn’t have Oscars, and certain people wouldn’t be where they are in their positions.’
She went on to say that people should actually be more forgiving — to a certain extent.
‘If you have used up your second and third chances with a certain topic, you’re canceled and you should stay canceled, but if you mess up and you apologize and you come forward and you say, ‘I’ve learned from this,’ then let that be an example for other people so that they can change too.’
However, she didn’t address whether the page that was promptly deleted from Instagram belonged to her or not.
What do you think about cancel culture and how it affects public figures these days? Do you agree that there should be a ‘forgiveness culture?’
