Ariana Grande Slammed For Complaining About Fans Doing Impressions Of Her

Ariana Grande’s massive success in acting and singing has amassed her a huge following. Just like with most public figures, fans try to emulate her look and style via social media.

There have been multiple Ariana lookalikes that have gone viral. Not long ago, a Tik Tok user was noticed by the artist herself for appearing nearly identical to Grande and sounding exactly like her Cat Valentine voice from the Nickelodeon shows Victorious and Sam and Cat.

Ariana responded to the viral tweet of the person with: ‘i feel like i’m living in some strange world where no one has ever heard me speak outside of that show.  but it’s all good. she’s a fan and she is sweet. the cat laugh is indeed pretty good.’

More recently, a comedian made a video where he stated: ‘What if we took a moment, like a small clip from a movie or TV show, something that an artist really poured their soul into… and we kind of, like, recontexualized it? Does that make sense? And we put a completely arbitrary meaning onto that thing that the artist loves so much? Kind of degrading its entire value?’

This seemed to resonate with the 26-year-old who reposted the clip and added her own caption that read: ‘omg can this please also double as your impression of the pony tail tik tok girls who think doing the cat valentine voice and that wearing winged eyeliner and a sweatshirt is doing a good impersonation of me … cause this really how it feels.’

Grande’s talking voice isn’t as spacey or high-pitched as her former character; however, she does indeed wear winged liner and a sweatshirt pretty regularly. Many people felt that she was being unnecessarily snarky to people who do impressions of her.

One commentator wrote in the Teen Vogue comment section: ‘She’s soo rude if I where in her position I would be flattered and thankful for making me relevant and its a compliment that they want to be like her. I would send them a gift and some of my favorite things to wear. Artists quickly forget its that fans that keep them well fed our money so F her!!!’

Another said: ‘What does she expect when she became famous? Girls everywhere we’re looking up to her, before she came up with her individual style. She should put her career to rest if she can’t handle her fans. I’m sick of seeing all of these articles about how she treats people and little kids. I can’t believe I used to like her. The fake bubbly nice girl act she had going on, really fooled people.’

One Facebook user questioned: ‘Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But honestly if that many people can that easily replicate your look, are you really that unique?’

While this one wrote: ‘There is an irony here right? Since when Ari first blew up it was from doing impressions of other artists singing voices and after realizing she couldn’t find her own deciding to just be Mariah Carey all the time.’
