Test Madagascar COVID-19 drug first, Shehu Sani advises Buhari govt

Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central, has stated that the Madagascar COVID-19 drug should be tested first before its usage is approved by Nigeria.

Shehu Sani stated this after news broke out that a batch of the drug meant to be airlifted to Nigeria is currently in Equitorial Guinea from where it will arrive in Abuja.

He wrote on Twitter: “Madagascan #COVID19 remedy should be clinically and scientifically tested.

“Once it’s found to be effective and with no serious side effects, it should be approved, purchased in bulk quantities and supplied to our clinics.

“If there are serious issues with the remedy, it should be discarded.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria currently has over 2000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country as confirmed by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC.
