#COVID19: Lagos records 82 new COVID-19 infections

Lagos State recorded 82 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday , The PUNCH reports .
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known in its daily update on its website .

It said the fresh cases bring the total infections in the state to 1,308 , adding that 920 patients were on admission at isolation and treatment centres in the state while 358 recoveries and 30 fatalities have been reported so far .
The Centre stated , “ On the 6th of May 2020 , 195 new confirmed cases and 5 deaths were recorded in Nigeria .
“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours .

“The 195 new cases are reported from 13 states - Lagos ( 82 ) , Kano ( 30 ) , Zamfara ( 19 ) , Sokoto ( 18 ) , Borno ( 10 ) , FCT ( 9 ) , Oyo( 8 ) ,Kebbi ( 5 ) , Gombe ( 5 ) , Ogun ( 4 ) , Katsina ( 3 ) , Kaduna( 1) , Adamawa ( 1 )
“Till date , 3145 cases have been confirmed , 534 cases have been discharged and 103 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory. ”

Lagos entered a new phase on Monday , May 4 , with the end of the five - week -old lockdown ordered by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari ( retd .) as part of measures to curb the spread of the novel virus in the nation ’s economic capital .
Banks and some other businesses have since recommenced operations though an 8pm to 6am curfew has been in place as ordered by the President .

Intra -state transport operations have also since started with the state government giving new guidelines for motorists and commuters including sitting arrangement , use of face masks , amongst others .

It also recently unveiled the # MaskUpLagos Campaign to sensitive the about 20 million residents of the state of the need to wear face masks in public places , maintain social distancing and observe good hygiene as part of collective efforts to combat the pandemic .
