YouTube Representatives Come Out To Deny Tekashi 6ix9ine And Nicki Minaj’s Claim That ‘Trollz’ Broke Their Record
YouTube recently denied the claim from Nicki Minaj and Tekashi 6ix9ine that their collaborative effort together, “Trollz,” their fourth, thus far, did not reach the fastest growing YouTube title as they suggested. Hot New Hip Hop picked up on the streaming platform’s statement today.
As it was previously reported, Tekashi 6ix9ine first broke the record for the most views of a YouTube video in 24 hours with the post-prison release of his song, “GOOBA,” which poked fun at all the rappers in the game who are mad at him.
Whether you support 6ix9ine or not, it’s clear hip-hop’s greatest troll is back on top of the game. On his IG Live account, Tekashi shared his joy at receiving so many views on his “GOOBA” video, despite the sheer amount of hatred he has endured since his release from prison.
His second post-prison single, “TROLLZ,” featuring the aforementioned Nicki Minaj, was praised by both parties as beating his previous record, but as it turns out, it’s not true. You can see one of their posts in the IG link below:

The outlet, XXL, said that a representative from YouTube confirmed that “TROLLZ” didn’t receive as much heat as “GOOBA.” In fact, it was short by approximately 6 million views.
A representative for the organization said that songs are eligible for the record if they received views from organic sources in the 24-hour time frame. The rep went on to say that the numbers including search results, direct links to the video, as well as external sites, however, don’t include for-pay advertising views.
The news will likely come as a shock to Nicki and Tekashi 6ix9ine, who bragged of the song’s success on their IG platforms. More importantly, Tekashi 6ix9ine is a big fan of reaching number one.
Earlier this year, the artist insinuated that Billboard might tamper with the numbers when he made a post about them around the same time as “GOOBA’s” release. As it turns out, he was beaten by Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
