Nicole Maines Says She’ll Always Be A Harry Potter Fan Despite J.K. Rowling’s Disappointing Anti-Trans Tweets – Here’s Why!
Supergirl actress Nicole Maines thinks the Wizarding World is definitely accepting of the transgender community, even if the one who created it doesn’t seem to be! This comes while J.K. Rowling is still in hot water over her transphobic tweets.
The transgender actress, who identifies as a Slitherin joked that even the main villain of the Harry Potter and heir of Slitherin, Voldemort is an ally!
With that being said, just like many other Potterheads, Nicole was rather disappointed by the stance Rowling took on trans rights.
During an interview for HollywoodLife, she argued that: ‘I firmly believe that she created a world where transgender people were accepted. I do not believe for a second that Hogwarts would put up with some separate bathroom bulls**t.’
The Supergirl actress even argued that while he is definitely racist against non-pure bloods, not even He Who Must Not Be Named would care about what gender anyone identifies with!
‘Honestly, I believe that Voldemort is for trans rights. I think he doesn’t care what you identify as, as long as you know you’re pureblood. As long as you’re not a Muggle. He’s like, ‘I don’t care what bathroom you use, I don’t care what you have between your legs. Do you have some magic blood in you? Sure, hop on board!’’ she stated during the same chat with the news outlet.
Nicole stressed that no matter how hurt she was by J.K.’s words, she still remains a Harry Potter fan.
She argued that the books has helped her as a kid, just like it’s helped many others and that the world Rowling created remains unaffected by her questionable stances in real life.
‘And, you know, if that is something you’ve clung on to as a kid, and I was a huge fan as a kid. I’m still a huge fan, whatever she says does not affect words already written.’
