James Van Der Beek Reveals The Sad News That His Wife Kimberly Has Lost Another Pregnancy

Dawson’s Creek alum James Van Der Beek has revealed that his wife Kimberly has suffered another miscarriage. The father of five shared the news on Saturday in an emotional Instagram post.

“After suffering a brutal, very public miscarriage last November, we were overjoyed to learn we were pregnant. This time, we kept the news to ourselves. But last weekend, once again, 17 weeks in… the soul we’d been excited to welcome into the world had lessons for our family that did not include joining us in a living physical body,” wrote the actor.

But last weekend, once again, 17 weeks in… the soul we’d been excited to welcome into the world had lessons for our family that did not include joining us in a living physical body. • We rushed @vanderkimberly to the hospital by ambulance for another harrowing night of blood transfusions. And as I stood by, grateful for the good people who navigated the maze of regulations to save her life – but helpless to do much for the woman I loved other than massage her feet and try to keep her warm (with my #DWTS robe, ironically) – something kept running through my head, again and again, which I now feel compelled to share: • We’ve got to take better care of each other. • The world is in pain right now. There’s denial, shock, numbness, anger – all the old patterns we cling to when deep trauma is unearthed. And there are no words to ease that pain… to make the process hurt less or to solve it quickly. But the way out of it? Starts with an open, broken-hearted contemplation of this question: • How can we take better care of each other? • And to all the families who have gone through this… you are not alone.

James and Kimberly are the parents of Olivia, 9, Joshua, 8, Annabel, 6, Emilia, 4, and Gwendolyn, 2. However, they have all also experienced five miscarriages in nine years. In November 2019, Van Der Beek was competing in Dancing with the Stars when he revealed that Kimberly had miscarried before dedicating a dance to her.

In his post, Van Der Beek said that he felt “helpless” when an ambulance rushed his wife to the hospital for “another harrowing night of blood transfusions.” He said that he felt grateful for the good people who saved her life, but all he could do was massage her feet and try to keep her warm.

At that moment, Van Der Beek says that something kept running through his head, and he felt compelled to share it now with his nearly one million followers: “We’ve got to take better care of each other.”

The 43-year-old added that the world is in pain right now. He wrote that the world is filled with denial, shock, numbness, and anger, which are “all the old patterns we cling to when deep trauma is unearthed.”

Even though there are no words to ease that pain or to make the process hurt less and no way to solve it quickly, Van Der Beek says there is a way out of it. He says that it starts with an open, broken-hearted contemplation of this question: “How can we take better care of each other.”

James Van Der Beek wrapped up his message by telling his fans who have gone through the same experience that they are not alone.
