Jaime King Claims She Was Arrested Yesterday Protesting In Support Of Black Lives Matter

Us Magazine reported today that Jaime King was one of the people arrested on the 2nd of June amid the LA Black Lives Matter protests. The star took to her Twitter account to say that she was arrested for a “peaceful protest.”

In another tweet, King claims she was on a bus with other people for approximately four hours. They took the group of apprehended individuals from the 77th precinct to San Pedro, a trip where people didn’t have medications, bathrooms, and were “bleeding through their pants.”

Furthermore, King took to her IG in a post you can see below to offer a large social media platform to Krystina Arielle Tigner. She claims it was a way of “amplifying” her voice amid the #BlackOutTuesday event on social media.

King went on to insinuate that there is never a time when white people walk out their doors and fear for their lives on account of their skin color, although, black people often do.

This is my friend @krystinaarielle today I choose to use my platform to amplify her voice and mission to create understanding through empathy by having Tina take over my socials, my sister who knows and speaks the truth. She uses her own platform to bring awareness to the struggles that she and other Black people face on a daily basis. Black voices matter, black stories matter, and black lives matter. How we use our voices and our platforms is important. It isn’t enough to just say black lives matter and go back to our carefully curated social media squares. We have to use our influence to uplift and raise the voices of those that can change the world. It’s a privilege to be able to walk out the door without fear that you won’t walk back in because the color of your skin was seen as a threat. It’s a privilege to have the platform that I have and to be able to be heard. I will never know firsthand the experiences of Existing while black. I will never send my sons out the door with the fear that they’ll become a hashtag movement because their skin color was seen as a threat. But what I can do is listen. I can search my own biases. I can hear my friends when they say they are hurting and instead of saying “I’m so sorry.” I can say I see you, I hear you, and fight to make room for them in a world that makes that hard. Use your voice to uplift black artists and creators. Use your voice to fight for representation. Don’t just say black lives matter. Prove it by supporting artists like Tina. Prove by supporting black artists and businesses. Prove it by making sure when you look at your table not every face looks like yours.

Of course, Jaime is referencing the Black Lives Matter protests that came as a result of the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

George died on the 25th of May due to asphyxiation from Derek Chauvin’s knee pressed onto the back of his neck. An autopsy done by a third party confirmed that he died from having his airways restricted.

The 44-year-old police officer was detained on the 29th of May and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter following his firing.

Derek is now sitting in jail. Jaime isn’t the only celebrity to participate in the Black Lives Matter protests. The singer-songwriter, Halsey, was also photographed attending to an injured man in the streets.

Other celebrities such as The Weeknd and many others announced contributions to various black organizations, including Black Lives Matter and the NAACP.

The news of Jaime’s protest comes after she filed a restraining order against Kyle Newman. Jaime and Kyle had two sons, James and Leo, who are 6 and 4 respectively.
