It’s difficult for fans to get me distracted – Ini Dima-Okojie
Ini Dima-Okojie is one actress that has maintained a clean slate since she ventured into the Nigerian movie industry.
In a recent interview with Sunday Scoop, Ini reveals how she handles attention from fans, she said, “It is an honour that people appreciate what I do and in the process, that could draw attention to me as a person. The key for me is to find a balance and try to treat everyone with respect. As long as I keep my focus, it would be difficult to get distracted,” she said.
Asked how she handles low moments as an actor, she added, “Those are bound to come. Aside from the fact that I have an amazing support system in my friends and family, some other times, all that is needed is to take a break. However, I’m also a firm believer that the show must go on. So, when it comes to my work, low moments or not, we show up and give it 100 per cent regardless.”
The former bank worker doesn’t just get it right when it comes to her role interpretations, she also wows with her sense of style. For her, she loves to express herself though fashion. She said, “Style is home. It is my happy place as I have always loved to dress up, even as a young girl. I love the ability to create and express myself through fashion. It isn’t so much a strategy as it is an expression of who I am.”
On how she has been able to stay relevant in the world of make-believe, the Covenant University graduate said, “I’m an actor and that is my career path. And like it is in every other profession, relevance comes from how much one can evolve and the value one brings to the table. It is my job to give life to characters and I take it seriously because it is someone’s reality. I learn, listen and keep pushing my limit and expanding my mind. With God on my side, relevance will have to fall in place”.
