Disney Postpones Release Of Mulan Again Due To Increase In COVID-19 Cases

The movie industry has been hit very hard by the coronavirus pandemic. Ever since the virus began spreading throughout the United States, Disney has had to shut down the production of many of their films, in addition to postponing movies already ready to hit the theaters.

One such movie was Mulan, which has been postponed for the second time due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. The movie was originally supposed to come out on the 27th of March, however, lockdown began in March and the United States government forced many businesses to close.

They then rescheduled the film’s release for the 24th of July. But with cases continuing to increase throughout the United States and the continued closure of NYC and LA movie theaters, the studio had no choice to push back the movie’s release again until the 21st of August.

In a statement to Variety, Alan Horn and Alan Bergman said the movie was important enough to release due to its message of “hope and perseverance.” The movie is expected to be a huge hit in not only the United States but also in China.

However, movie theaters in China are still closed due to the pandemic. Initially, the studios hoped that Mulan and Tenet, from Christoper Nolan, would bring the film industry to an explosive start at the box office, but Tenet was also postponed until August as was Bill and Ted Face The Music.

As it was noted above, many films had to reschedule their release date, including the last James Bond film starring Daniel Craig, No Time To Die, which was initially canceled in China before its postponement in the United States as well.

Right before the pandemic began, Daniel Craig appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night Live to promote the movie. Craig worked alongside the musical guest, The Weeknd.

Some productions had to adapt to the new changes, including late-night TV, which began hosting episodes from home. Stars such as Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert, started delivering their usual programming from their houses.
