Below is a video showing people wailing and crying at the Oluyole Estate residency of former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi.

Governor Ajimobi who had been on a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, after slipping into a coma following Coronavirus complications, finally died hours ago.

A source confirmed his death: “His organs collapsed about a week ago. It is just that the family didn’t want to unplug the life support. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.

The former governor was rumoured to be dead last week but his aides and family members denounced the report asking Nigerians to rather pray for his recovery.

Ajimobi had once prayed to die at the age of 70.

Kemi Filani News reports that he said this in May while speaking at Splash FM/Lagelu radio station in IbadanOyo state.

The discussion was with Imams on the Muslim perspective to life as the world battles the COVID-19 pandemic during Ramadan.
