Super Eagles Striker, Osimhen nets twice to become Ligue 1 top scorer so far

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen netted twice against in Lille beat Saint Etienne 3-0 in Wednesday’s Ligue 1 clash at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium.



The 20-year-old Nigeria international came off the bench to replace former Chelsea forward Loic Remy 19th minutes into the encounter after picking injury before the Lagos-born put his side 1-0 ahead at the break.

Lille went ahead in the 69th minute when Jonathan Bamba converted from the penalty spot before Osimhen sealing the victory with his second and his third for Christophe Galtier side with 15 minutes left to play.

Osimhen joined the French side this summer on a five-year deal from Belgian side, Sporting Charleroi, in a deal worth €12million, a club-record sale for Charleroi has now scored four goals in three Ligue 1 appearances to overtake Moussa Dembélé, Memphis Depay and Habib Diallo who are three goals each.

Lille, who will play in the UEFA Champions League this season, is now fourth on the table with six goals from three matches.
