Kathie Lee Gifford Shares Emotional Tribute Honoring Friend Regis Philbin After The News About His Passing

Kathie Lee Gifford is one of many honoring Regis Philbin after the news of his passing from natural causes was shared with the world. The legendary TV host was only weeks shy of his 89th birthday.

Kathie Lee Gifford made sure to pay tribute to her former co-host and close friend in an emotional post on her go-to platform.

She was obviously really saddened by the news as she wrote: ‘There are no words to express the love that I have for my friend, Regis. I adored him and every day with him was just another gift. We spent fifteen years together bickering and laughing ourselves silly — a tradition and friendship we shared up to this day.’

Kathie Lee went on to add that the thought of Regis in heaven making someone laugh makes her smile.

‘It brings me comfort knowing he had a personal relationship with the Lord that brought him a lot of peace. I send all of the love in my heart to Joy, his children, the rest of his family and the innumerable people that he touched over his legendary life. There’s never been anyone like him. And there never will be,’ she concluded her touching tribute.

We spent 15 years together bantering and bickering and laughing ourselves silly—a tradition and a friendship we shared up to this very day. I smile knowing somewhere in Heaven, at this very moment, he’s making someone laugh. It brings me great comfort knowing that he had a personal relationship with his Lord that brought him great peace. I send all the love in my heart to Joy, to his children, to the rest of his family and to the innumerable people he touched over his legendary life. There has never been anyone like him. As fans of Live! are well aware, Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford were co-hosts from 1988, up until 2000 when Kathie Lee left the show and was replaced by Kelly Ripa.

Regardless of her departure, the longtime co-hosts remained close friends and kept in touch for the years to come.

Furthermore, they also reunited on the small screen when Philbin made several guest appearances on the Today show with Kathie and Hoda.

In their personal lives, the friends were caught on camera out for dinner together as recently as January of 2018 and looked as happy as ever to be in each other’s company. Rest in Peace, Regis Philbin.
